Did not realise it would be so nice in October, Los Nietos and surrounding areas - it was ideal. Though not much for our two tennagers to do. May come back during the summer when more people are around, and the communal pool is warmer.

The house was perfect and the weather for February was fantastic, most days warm sun the children went in Med and Mar Menor, what more could we as a family want - then last day on the way to the airport and cold UK, sunday lunch in the local english bar - excellant. Thanks again, see next year if not before Bob & Fran and boys

Thank you for your support and help during our 10day stay, we had a smashing holiday, everything we needed in the Apartment, everyone in the village were friendly, spanish and English. Smashing, we will come again.

| Local Attractions | 14th February in Spain - , Valentine's Day started in the time of the Roman Empire. In ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honour Juno. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia, so all you gents out there don’t forget your special lady! So all you gents out there don’t forget your special lady! Its Leap year too, so all the single ladies make use of opportunity to grab that special Man!
LENT begins on 22nd Feb. along with Mardi Gras!!! Cartagena is preparing for Carnaval and the big Carnival Parade (not to be missed!) takes place on
LOS NIETOS itself has numerous tapas bars, with a Irish/British bars /restaurants, El Fraille ( my local )which is owned by Hugh and Carol where you will be given a fantastic welcome
The Viva bistro is situated by the beach and has a good menu and evening entertainment in the summer.
There is a train service from Los Nietos to Cartagena which stops at mountain villages and is only 2.20 euros return).
PLAYA PARAISO/PLAYA HONDA have a number of bars and restaurants and again is right on the beach.
The fishing village of CABO de PALOS is 10 minutes away, very cornish and quaint, with many restaurants serving locally caught fish.
LOS BELONES, 5 minutes away has restaurants ranging from Indian, Italian,Chinese,Asian,English,Scottish and many fine Spanish tapas bars.
La Union: The Cartagena Council opend up part of the historic mines to the public early last year, fantastic and interesting 1/2 day tour for 10E,a video in English and Spanish before your trip via train upto one of the mines, you go 83mtr into the mines. Also a good day out for those who just want to walk around as there is a clean friendly Cafe up on the top area and cost nothing only charge for the entrance into the mine. = see Tourist information for times of opening
La Manga club ( 10 mins ),home to the rich and famous,is well worth a visit, be careful you do not bump into the many sportsmen and celebrities that have homes there (we have luxury properties for rent here ).
The mud from the Mar Menor is ideal for those suffering from muscle or skin problems,just plaster it on, leave to dry and wash it off, the Spanish people swear by it.The W.H.O.have said that the Mar Menor is one of the healthiest places to live on earth.
The Mar Menor is also popular for the many water sports available and has 13 marinas dotted around its coast, so if you want an active holiday or a restful holiday you have the choice, so book now , you would not be disappointed.
Within a 10 minute drive of our properties you have the nature reserve of Calblanque,which has what we think are the best beaches in the region of Murcia.
Cale=Riona is a beach near by with a new refurbish cafe overlooking the med, fantastic early evening to see the sun set.
Inland is the capital of the Murcia region, Murcia city, a contrast to Cartagena as it is a Moorish city with a stunning cathedral.
